Day #7

OK, the stage and lighting were finished in time and all the bands got to rehearse for the gig. Quite a few other people - friends and family turned up for the evening and they got to hear all five bands play the songs they had been working on all week. Everyone was great and they all did themselves proud with their performances. After a short break when Steve gave out certificates and CD's, the second half of the evening got under way with local (mostly girl) band WKD pwerforming a twenty minute set. This was followed by a couple of open jam sessions which saw some of the staff (Ash, Ugis, Penny and Russ) joining up with Josh on drums for a couple of blues numbers.
The evening ended with a set from local heroes 'Spider Arcade' which went down really well and was a great way to finish the week's events.
Well done everyone who took part, you are all stars!

Day #6

Late start at the Lighthouse today owing to activities at Avon Tyrrell. The morning was spent finishing of mixes and getteing a copy to Nick at Somerford for him and Sam to master. Ash finished all the CD cover artwork and printing etc. All we have to do now is copy all the discs as soon as we get the master back from Nick tonight!
We managed to record a second track for NNY this afternoon. It's a really catchy Ska song which will not be going on the Eurofusion CD but the band will get a finished copy of it each.
All the equipment was taken to Burton for Saturday's concert and the stage, lighting and PA rigs have mostly been built. Rehearsals start tommorow for the gig!

Day #5

Well, the bulk of the recording was finished today....just a couple of small bits to add tomorrow. Lunch was good - baked potatos with cheese, ham and salad........nice. Tomorrow we have to build the sound and lighting rig for Saturday's gig, finish recording, mix the tracks, master the album, print the cover and duplicate the CD's....................................no pressure then!! LOL!

Day #3

Righty, recording is now underway, with recording finished for 'Judgement Day' by NNY.. great band, great song!
Ash held a guitar workshop. I say that, but it was just loads of gear set up, for anyone to have a play with, and it went down well.
Penny did a great lunch, with help from Pipa, cheers!
Still got the rest of the week to look forward to, it's gonna be awesome!

Day #2

Righty, the week is progressing, slowly, but steadily!

This morning has seen the bands rehearse and write their songs, all of which are great. Lunch was served today, and leek and potato soup went down well. Another jam happened, in which Ugis, Ash and Connor spoke the universal language of music!! This afternoon, all the guys were off surfing. Don't know how it went, so we'll let you know tommorow.

First day

Ok, it's Sunday afternoon and the fun has started! There are five bands formed from the 24 musicians and rehearsal and writing has begun at Somerford and the Lighthouse. While waiting for the arrival of all the participants, Ugis, Russ and Ash found time to explore the universal 'language' of twelve bar and had a really enjoyable 'staff jam'!! Great stuff!!
The real work starts tomorrow!

Last year..

Last year, this whole 'concept' was executed, brilliantly, over in Liechtenstein, under the name of 'Jammed'.

We hope this year, we can follow on in the footprints of last years exhange with the same success they achieved.

Anyone wanting to check out what happened last year, go to http://www.jammed.li/... some brilliant stuff, so it's worth a peek.

Eurofusion - What is this??

Eurofusion '09 - a joint project by youth clubs in the UK, Latvia, Poland and Lichtenstein - has the aim to unite young people of these countries together, through music.

The Eurofusion '09 project is spanning just over a week (Sat 25th - Sun 2nd), with many music, and non-musical activities.

The musical activites include recording, rehearsing and putting on a show, at Burton Youth Club, in which the young people perform songs they have written over the week.

As well as offering the young people many musical opportunites, we are also having surfing lessons, day trips around the country, and chances to learn about culture and history.

Right, I think that covers what this whole thing is.. although, watch this space :)
